REDUKT: The Matt Zaun Memorial Installment

As some of you may be aware, a large segment of our musical and artistic extended family was recently shocked and saddened by the loss of our dear friend and collaborator
Matt Zaun, who died suddenly of heart failure in his sleep at the age of 31 in the early morning hours of November 4th, 2007. Matt was a true friend to many, as well as an
extremely talented percussionist and designer. His loss is felt on many levels, as many of us were in bands with him, were friends with him, or depended on his expertise in
package design for our musical and visual artworks or posters for our events, or willingness to lend any combination of his many skills in whatever way he could. His loss leaves a gaping hole, but if ever there was a life and a body of work worth celebrating, it is Matt's.

Hence, January's installment of the ongoing REDUKT series has undergone changes in both name and concept, becoming the Matt Zaun Memorial Music Show (serving as a
companion event to the Matt Zaun Memorial Art Show at Casket Arts which takes place from 15-27 December 2007), and featuring music by many of Matt's friends and
collaborators. Our connection to Matt is the tie that binds this time around, rather than a shared aesthetic or musical method. We hope to do justice to Matt's wide variety of
friends and appreciation for a wildly varying array of artistic and personal expression. There will be many more performers than usual for this event (Matt had many friends
and former band mates in a wide variety of solo and group projects), and as such the performances will be rapid-fire, short and sweet. We hope you will enjoy it, and we know
that the spirit and style of this event will reflect Matt's eclectic taste in music, art and friends.
